Stand Up for Nova Scotia School Support Staff

Nova Scotia’s school support staff are at a breaking point.

Negotiations for a fair collective agreement have stalled, and this impasse is unacceptable. School support staff—who face some of the highest rates of violence in our public schools—deserve fair wages, safe workplaces, and the respect they’ve earned through their unwavering dedication to our children.

Did you know that 65% of school support staff face violence on the job every week? Or that many are forced to work multiple jobs—such as grocery clerks, cleaners, and retail associates—just to make ends meet? These are the harsh realities for the backbone of our education system.

With over 30,000 violent incidents reported in schools last year and understaffing reaching critical levels, it’s clear: the government’s inaction is putting students and staff at risk.

Now is the time to act.

School support staff have been clear: they are ready to stand up for what’s right. Join us in demanding a fair deal for school support staff and the resources needed for safe, supportive schools.
